CE1 – Reducing Carbon Emissions
The company cultivates a 50 ha silvicultural Eucalyptus forest for utilization as shoring in the underground tunnels, which preserves native forests and contributes to carbon offsetting. The operation also implements shelterbelts to prevent fugitive emissions.
CE3: 100% Renewable Energy
The energy matrix is 100% renewable, which minimizes CO2 emissions. Almost all machinery and equipment used in extraction, processing and environmental management operations use electricity instead of fossil fuels. The vehicle and heavy-machinery fleet also runs mostly on ethanol and biodiesel.

WF1 - Improving Purchasing Practices: The company is studying the possibility of supporting traditional artisanal miners that previously scavenged tourmalines on the operation's tailings pits (locally known as "ciebeiros") to assure their livelihoods, safety and labor rights. This demonstrates respect for traditional livelihoods and worker rights.
EvidencedWF2 - Audited Working Conditions: The working conditions in the Mine and Headquarters areas are comparable to those of larger-scale operations, fulfilling all necessary legal requirements. Personal protection equipment (PPEs) and training are supplied to every worker according to health and safety requirements.
EvidencedWF3 - Living Wage: According to documentation by Cruzeiro Mine, the company complies with all rules established in labor legislation. The company generates 30 direct jobs and 100 indirect jobs at the São José da Safira mine, and 32 direct and 90 indirect jobs in the Governador Valadares facilities, with fair compensation.
VerifiedWF4 - Inclusive Workforce: The company practices a non-formalized diversity and inclusion policy, resulting in a gender-balanced team including people with disabilities and of several ethnicities. Almost all formal positions are held by local labor with representation of employees with disabilities (hearing and intellectual) and of various ethnicities and ages.
